Understand yourself.
Technology should help people understand their own patterns, symptoms, behaviour and wellbeing rather than hand that understanding to somebody else.
Performance
Function better.
Sleep, cognition, attention and neurological wellbeing shape how people perform every day, at work and everywhere else.
Personalised
Built around the individual.
People experience symptoms, environments, behaviours and neurological states differently. Technology should adapt to the individual, not the average.
Privacy
Your data belongs to you.
Privacy is treated as part of the architecture and the product philosophy, not as a legal statement added at the end.
What each principle changes in practice.
A principle that never rejects a feature is decoration. Each one below carries a definition, a philosophy and a product consequence.
Empowerment — understand yourself
Definition. The person is the primary audience for their own information.
Philosophy. Understanding should not require an intermediary to translate it back to you.
Product consequence. Insights are written in plain language first. Nothing is shown to the person only as a score they cannot interpret.
Performance — function better
Definition. Neurological wellbeing is measured by what it lets you do.
Philosophy. Sleep, attention and cognition are not abstractions; they show up in an ordinary working Tuesday.
Product consequence. Features are judged on whether they change a decision the person makes today.
Personalised — built around the individual
Definition. The reference point is your own history, not a population norm.
Philosophy. Two people with the same diagnosis can have almost nothing in common day to day.
Product consequence. Generic trigger lists are avoided where an individual pattern can be established instead.
Privacy — your data belongs to you
Definition. Privacy is an architectural constraint, not a policy document.
Philosophy. The most personal category of data deserves the least casual handling.
Product consequence. Data collection is minimised by default, and local processing is preferred wherever it is practical.

The first product is the first test of the standard.
Akeso is designed so that logging costs seconds rather than minutes (Performance), so that the resulting patterns belong to that person (Personalised), so that the insight is legible without a clinician present (Empowerment), and so that as little as possible needs to leave the person's control for any of it to work (Privacy).
